KCI's commitment to Net Zero: What and how we're doing it.

Within the oil and gas industry, we all must play our part in constantly evaluating and scrutinising our activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to limit global temperature increases and their impact on the planet.

Through our partnership with Net Zero International, we have developed a robust carbon reduction plan to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050 (2045 for us Scottish companies), in line with the Science-Based Targets outlined by the UNFCCC. In addition, we aim for a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030 and have implemented measures to address climate change in the short and long term.

Why implement a carbon reduction plan?

·         We must keep ourselves accountable and on target to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030 and net zero by 2050 (2045 in Scotland).

·         Outline our short- and long-term targets to ensure we are on track to fulfil our commitments.

·         Provide measured and statistical data in a report annually, at minimum.

·         To empower employees to take action by outlining concrete initiatives across all levels and areas of the business.

How will we achieve these goals?

Our priority is to ensure our employees are on board with the plan and understand these policies' impact on global carbon emission reduction. It is of utmost importance that the changes outlined in the plan are embedded into our team culture. In addition, increasing awareness of the significance of reducing waste and increasing recycling will be a consistent theme throughout our activities.

A critical review of all business travel will be conducted, analysing the business impact should the travel not occur. We have expanded the team to employ an individual in Abu Dhabi to reduce travel, as this is a crucial region for us.

We are also working closely with our suppliers, helping and supporting them in identifying lower-carbon solutions where practical and understanding the Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) of the products we buy. Working with companies with shared environmental values can strengthen our efforts to drive positive change.

We have also implemented a salary sacrifice scheme for electric vehicles, which over 50% of the team has used.

By setting measurable targets with clear steps for all business levels, we have made significant headway toward becoming a lower-carbon organisation. You can obtain a copy of the annual report by contacting us at info@kciltd.co.uk.
